At Guitar Breaks we believe in the live-ness of your learning experience. So rather than film a load of tutorial videos (we are leaving that to our good chums Justin and Andy), here at Guitar Breaks you can now have small group workshops with your favourite guitarists, LIVE in the comfort of your own home.

how does it work?
We currently have three different ways you can join us online:
*Weekly Workshops:
Running over 5 weeks, these 1 x hourly workshops give you the inspiration and information you need to develop your knowledge and technique. Groups are limited to no more than 10 guitarists.
*Weekend Sessions:
More intense than the Weekly Workshops, the Weekend Sessions consist of 3 hours on a Saturday and 3 hours on a Sunday. They are themed around a style, a technique or an artist and the groups are limited to no more than 10 guitarists.
*Individual Masterclasses:
One-off hourly sessions that can be focussed on any particular topic. A quality hour of Q&A, diving down into one particular technique, a close study of pedal chains, recording guitars at home.....you name it, it's covered!

Once you have signed up for a particular workshop, you will receive invites to attend each session prior to the start of the session. You will also receive any supporting material relevant to your workshops.

weekly workshops:
Developing Rock Technique and Improvisation - Sam Bell:
A short 5 session course designed to develop your technique on the guitar with an emphasis on how to practice effectively to build speed and fluidity on the fretboard.
We’ll be looking at how to build fluid phrases using the Minor Pentatonic Scale, 3 Note Per String Scales and moving around the neck. Players can expect to understand the fundamental building blocks of practicing, building and applying phrases to actual music.
Each workshop will be focused on building a few key phrases, we’ll be breaking them down into smaller chunks which can be used as licks in themselves and also exercises that will build technique and fluidity.

Getting Started. Workshops for Beginners - Ian Edwards:
Learning anything new can be a bit daunting, can't it? So the 'Getting Started' course of workshops is ideal to kickstart your guitar playing. Giving you the skills and knowledge to start learning the necessities of the guitar and putting these things into practise.
We will be looking at your guitar, discovering how it works (literally!) and getting to grips with your first few notes and chords. There will be enough theory to give you the building blocks, but not too much to confuse. And as we go through 5 weeks of workshops, we will be working towards being able to play your first piece of music, either as a solo melody or as chords for a song.
Each week will focus on a particular element which is essential to your development and, importantly, will give you the confidence to continue on with your playing.

- Workshop 1: Introduction to the guitar, its build and layout. Naming all the relevant parts of your instrument, discussing what they do. We will then start playing each string and looking to form our first chord.
- Workshop 2: Developing more chords and looking at how scales are built on one string. What's the difference between major & minor?
- Workshop 3: Discovering the difference between using a guitar pick versus using your fingers. Starting to work on strumming patterns
- Workshop 4: Learning more chords and starting to think about playing songs. How are songs structured? What is the role of the guitar player?
- Workshop 5: Looking at the structure of simple songs and beginning to play our chosen song/s.
